Adding units: names, floors, groups and the full legal address
A unit is a door you can let. Adding one takes a name and a floor; making it lease-ready takes a legal address. This page covers both, and the paste shortcut for forty at once.
Adding unitsWalkthrough
- Open Places › (the place) › Units › Add.
- Name it the way it is painted on the door: "2E", "Lot 14", "Penthouse". Names are unique within a place. In a stacked place, set the floor; in a flat one, the street, block or phase.
- Group, type, running cost — all optional. Group is free text that becomes a filter (a wing, a phase). Type is a label like "Studio · 28 m²" that appears on listings and leases. Running cost is what the unit costs you per month whether or not it is let — its share of the association dues, the fixed part of the utility bill — and is charged against it in the P&L.
- Save, or Save and add another to stay on the form.
- Legal description, when you prepare the first lease. The unit designation, building, street, barangay, city, province and ZIP, as they should appear in a contract. It is stored once per unit and every lease for that unit uses it, which is the point: the address is typed by someone who checked it, not retyped by someone in a hurry.
Forty units at once
Paste them. Copy the rows from any spreadsheet into Units › Paste a list; the platform recognises the columns, shows what it will create, and imports on your say-so. Moving from a spreadsheet has the details, including what it fixes and how to undo.
Units that are not units
A storeroom, a roof deck, the guard house. Add them if they have costs or stock you want tracked, and mark them not lettable: they stay out of occupancy and the tenant pages but appear in expenses and inventory.
Renaming is safe — every invoice and lease already issued keeps the name it was issued with, and the audit log keeps the change. Deleting is refused while a unit has any history; retire it instead and it drops out of lists but keeps its past.
