What never changes
Issued documents. An invoice for 2A in March stays an invoice for 2A even after 2A becomes 2A–B in June; the PDF is the PDF. Reports for past months are computed from the lines as they were. The audit log records the change with who and when.
What the reports do
A merged unit's P&L shows the two predecessors as separate rows up to the merge month and one row after, with the merge marked. A retired unit appears in any month it was active and not after. Occupancy counts active units only. Trend lines carry a marker where a structural change happened, so a drop in units is not mistaken for a vacancy problem.
Scattered and service-only units
A condo unit you sell: retire it on the sale date; its history stays for the accountant and the buyer's questions. A service-only unit you stop servicing: retire; the cleaning record stays.
