The weekly rota: template, overrides, swaps

A rota that has to be rewritten every time a tenant is away is a rota nobody keeps. This one has a normal week underneath and the exceptions on top, so the plan survives contact with reality.

By the end of this pageYou will be able to set up the weekly template, assign cleaners per day, skip or swap a slot for one week only, and read what the platform shows the cleaner.

The template

Housekeeping › Setup › Weekly rota. Six days, three slots each — morning, afternoon, late. Put a unit in each slot that normally gets cleaned then; leave the rest empty. This is your normal week. It has no names in it, only units, so it survives staff changes.

The week

Housekeeping shows this week as a copy of the template. For each day, pick the cleaner. Change any slot — a different unit, a skip with a reason, a swap with another day — and that change is an override for this date only. Changed cells are tinted so a supervisor sees at a glance what is not the normal plan. Save week. Next week starts clean from the template again.

Two cleaners who alternate

Common setup: one cleaner takes the first half of the week, the other the second, and they swap weekly. The per-day cleaner picker makes that two clicks a week, and the units in each slot do not care who comes.

What the cleaner sees

Her day, as cards: morning 1A, afternoon 2E, late 3E. No template, no overrides, no other days unless she looks. A cleaner's day.

Scattered units and short stays

Units you do not clean weekly — a condo elsewhere, a short-stay unit cleaned between guests — are not on the rota. They get jobs: one-off cleans with a date and a person, from Housekeeping › Jobs, or raised automatically by a move-out or a short-stay checkout.

Slot times are yours. The defaults are 9–12, 1–3, 3–6 with lunch between. Change them in Setup; they only affect the labels and the automatic slotting when a cleaner picks a unit by the clock.
