Tenant portal invites: link, WhatsApp, email — and what happens when they expire

An invitation is a one-time link that turns a client record into a portal account. It lasts seven days, works once, and can be resent as often as you like. Here is its whole life.

By the end of this pageYou will be able to invite any tenant by the channel they use, know what they see, and handle expiries and mistakes.

The three channels

WhatsApp — opens a message in your WhatsApp (or sends it from your business number if connected) with the link. Most tenants. Email — from your sending address. Companies, older tenants, anyone who asked. Copy link — for a tenant standing at reception, or to paste into whatever you already use.

A long random token, nothing else — no name, no unit, no amount. Anyone who gets the link can create the account, which is why it expires in seven days and dies on first use. If a link went to the wrong number, Revoke on the client's page kills it immediately.

Common situations

"I never got it." Check the channel's delivery mark on the client's page, then resend by the other channel. "The link says expired." Resend. "I forgot my password." Reset from the portal sign-in page, by email or WhatsApp to the contact on file; you do not need to do anything. "I have two units." One account sees both tenancies after the second invitation is accepted with the same contact.

Before the first invitation, open View as on that client and read the portal as they will. Wrong rent, missing lease, an unpaid invoice from two years ago — fix it first. First impressions of the portal are made once.
